Get’m to Memphis qualifying competition for the International Blues Challenge is set for Oct. 13th at 4pm at The Great Basin Brewery 846 Victorian Ave. in Sparks, NV. We hope you will come out to support the band! Our aspirations for competing in Memphis with bands from around the world is something we’ve been hard at work to accomplish. We already have money in the bank towards the cost of the trip and plan to have some fundraisers when we WIN the local Get’m to ?Memphis competition! To all our supporters we can’t thank you enough for all the love. We love you too!

Every Sunday we will be at Plan B in Carson City from 7-10 pm. Come on out and enjoy some fun! We’ll have lots of ways for you to be part of the event (unless you prefer to hang back and watch!). Live music is always the best! Especially when you get to play along! We have a lot of percussion instruments ready for you as well as some fun sing-along lines. Seating inside and out. Jam with the band sessions…

This is definitely going to be the summer of fun!! In May we are hosting the Blues Jams at Comm Row every Wed from 7-10pm come on down and play or listen and dance to some great blues!

In June we start the acoustic jams that includes audience participation! We’ll have lots of percussion instruments for you to play along with us and we’re inviting other musician friends to come on out and jam too.

Every Thursday night we’re at The Black Tangerine – outdoors on the patio! 7-10 pm.
Every Sunday Night we’re at Plan:B in Carson City 7-10. Come on down and have an awesome time with us!

What I learned at my audition

So… song choice is critical when you are in that VERY FOREIGN environment of an audition like the type used for The Voice. I really picked the wrong song and it didn’t translate well as an A Capella song. I kept working it over and thought it would be fine, but NO!

Lesson learned. Choose something VERY melodic so it doesn’t need accompaniment. And I also think that if I do another audition like this I will hire an audition coach. Auditioning is so different than performing.

The next challenge I am interested in is the International Blues Challenge. I want to win the local competition and the big one in Memphis. I’ll keep you posted about the date for our competition in Reno, word is they are looking at August. Hope you will all be there – it is a great day of music!

Auditioning for The Voice!

So…. originally I was gonna go audition without telling a soul.. including my husband! It’s such a long-shot no matter how well you sing, ultimately it is a TV show and they are “casting” a part. But I told a few people and then when Shane Whitecloud posted his audition pass on facebook it seemed fun to share in his experience. so, I shared mine on facebook and it blew up!

I am so amazed, honored and grateful for the support I have received. I am gonna go give it all I’ve got and hope for some magic! How fun would it be to get to the televised portion of The Voice? Amazing. I am going to share my journey with all of you however far it goes…….

My audition is Sunday April 1st, 2012… I will post on FB the details and pics and any other such stuff that seems interesting the day of the audition as I will be waiting around in line. Here I go folks!

Back to the blues… a reformation.

Many of you already know that the band is looking to get back to more blues roots in our music. We can really get to rockin’ as you know, and we’ll certainly keep that aspect, just laid over more of a blues sound. Tony Ghiglieri is stepping in as the new guitar player and Rick Metz will be laying down some saxophone for some of our shows.

Tony is just the right guitar player for this project! He was formerly with Terrapin Road and The Boogie Daddy’s and he’s got a really great sound for the type of music we’ll be doing. Still “Blues that Rocks”… just more blues…that ROCKS! He plays a mean slide guitar and mama loves her some slide! He and I have been writing some songs together as well and I think you will love our new stuff!

Rick is a tasty sax player and a great entertainer who connects with the audience. I always have fun jamming with him so we’re gonna take it to the next logical step and do some shows together!

What an AWESOME night!! We had a great gig with a kick-ass audience…THANK YOU EVERYONE! What a gorgeous night it was too! Thanks to Great Basin Brewery in Sparks for hosting us and we look forward to coming back soon.
